Verbena Bonariensis (Vervain)

Verbena Bonariensis (Vervain) is a moisture loving plant.  It has clusters of small purplish-blue flowers on tall, branched, wiry stems emerging from mounds of dark green foliage.  This perennial plant flowers in late summer. It is good for bees and butterflies and other pollinating insects as well as seeds for birds it will attract wildlife to your garden.  It will add a burst of colour to any garden.

  • Also known as Purpletop vervain, clustertop vervain, tall verbena, pretty verbena or Purpletop.
  • Likes moist, well-drained soil
  • Position in full sun.

  • Flowers during July to September.
  • In winter protect from frost using a mulch.
  • Leave the old foliage on during the winter months and trim back in spring as the new growth emerges.
